Fairy Glen Respite

We should hide this small town, tuck it away far beyond the reach of those who would burn it, mindlessly reducing it to embers.

Driven by equal parts of both hope and consternation, the future hangs by a thread upon the wall, ever so slightly out of balance.

I know this might sound wrong, but therein lies a great truth, like telling someone you would prefer the larger half.

Mayhaps there’s an inherent flux, a pseudo yen yang that tilts wildly at times, attempting to avoid an even more uncertain destiny.

Mayhaps not.

None’s the matter.

I took a walk late yestereve, desperate to get back to a magical land where things make a bit more sense.

There’s something about the gentle way water can flow unheeded over a bed of rocks.

This stream called me back.

I would love to tell you that I followed it deep into a lonely forest, but we do what we can with what’s at hand.

I like that.

We do what we can with what’s at hand.

What I am trying to say is that if you’ve been fortunate enough to find your own Fairy Glen then by all means defend it, make sure it stays safely hidden from the outside world.

Hunker down people, a storm approaches.
